Creating online tests can be complicated and time-consuming. i-Path’s new product PathXL OLT, an online wizard, makes the design and creation of online tests, for any number of students, quick and easy. Once the test is up and running, i-Path provides continuous support to ensure the tests run seamlessly.

PathXL OLT allows users to:

• Create, edit and publish content online
• Run online tests, no need for local hardware or software downloads
• Manage users and allocate access rights
• Use a range of question types – MCQs, EMSQs, Free Text, Mark the Slide
• Use a variety of image formats or documents e.g. digital slides, JPEGs, PDFs
• Control time limits and assessment dates
• Store test results centrally
• Analyse and present test results

The i-Pathsoftware team is experienced in developing online education and assessment systems, particularly from work with the University of Giessen in Germany and Queen’s University Belfast. An early release of the system was used to successfully create Multiple Choice Question assessments for a 50 person 3^rd year medical course studying bladder cancer histopathology at QUB.

PathXL OLT designer, Fiona Brown PhD says “this Online Testing system provides unique facilities for digital slide-based education and training, making it easy for users to build question banks, and allowing user interaction with digital slides. We are excited by the number of possible applications for PathXL OLT, already we are planning to use it in TMA evaluation, tissue scoring and External Quality Assurance (EQA) programs”.
